Ami's Story is part of a six short animated films collection based on real-life testimonies of young people of colour on their personal experiences of racism. The series was created for BBC Education and SWR in Germany in a bid to tackle race-hate in schools.
In this short animated film Ami talks about how negative experiences with the police and her school made her feel angry and unsafe, putting her on a rebellious path.
I worked as an animator under the direction of Dom Elsey based on designs that were consistent throughout the entire collection. The above clip is a longer excerpt consisting of shots I was mainly responsible for, but please check the entire series HERE.
